A Typical Week

C here, another typical week come and gone. I'm settling into the daily grind, and starting to feel relaxed and comfortable living as a New Yorker.

This week has been busy as usual in the design community. Drake-sters started the week off making an appearance at the annual Alpha Awards. Every year, Alpha Workshops hosts an awards event honoring a few exceptional people in the design community. Alpha Workshops is a company that creates hand painted wall-coverings and finishes. Most everyone that works for Alpha has AIDS. They are given the opportunity to carry on with their lives, receive education, and create successful careers despite their illness. Jamie is the President of the board and hosted the awards night this year. This is such a fun event, the whole office comes to show their support, socialize, eat, drink, and make new friends.

Later in the week, I was off to the opening night of the "Decor on the Shore" Showhouse. This is a showhouse out in Deal, NJ. Deal is a community that is comparable to the Hampton's. A very specific group of Sephardic Jews that live in Brooklyn all summer together at their mansions in Deal. 14 different designers were in charge of designing different rooms in this mansion. Drake design, more specifically Darrin and I, took on this project to design the Dining Room.
I was very excited this week to have a visitor, my old boss from Adib's Rug Gallery, Dr. Hamid Adib. He was out here for some conferences and we were able to meet up for dinner. It was so good to see him! Hamid is so much fun to talk to, we spent a good portion of the night talking about religion, and its so great to talk with someone that is so open minded and respectful of others beliefs and thoughts.

Well, the weekend is here, and it is time for some much needed R & R. Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend.

Spreading Gossip and living life in the fast lane: Love what you Live

C, here. Moving to New York over two months ago has surely turned my life upside down. I'm missing my family so much! But as every Gossip Girl knows, there's no time to mourn what you don't have. The City is full of life and there is so much to see and experience. Working in Manhattan is all about getting from point A to point B as quickly as possible while accomplishing 10 other things while you're getting there. Working for Interior Designer, Jamie Drake, is hard work, and I constantly have to be on my toes to keep my head above water. I love what I do though, and am learning so much, and wouldn't trade it for anything.

So, the purpose of this blog will of course be to keep family and friends up to date on what I am doing, and also to help me stay up to date on what friends and family are doing. But the other purpose, which I feel needs to be warned about, is to share gossip. Gossip Girl knows no shame, and cannot be held responsible for what might come to light. She deliver's what she hears, no matter the consequences. So be warned. Reading this blog may not always be for the feint of heart.

With that being said, I would like to deliver now, a juicy bit of gossip. It looks like my brother Andy and his girl, Kendra, are taking the marital plunge Here's wishing them a life
time of happiness, and hoping for marital bliss. But as we all know, taking a plunge into
unknown territory is always a risk. Hope they're up for the challenge and this plunge doesn't end in a marital drowning.

C
