C here, another successful week gone by. Lee and I were spotted around town checking out concerts in the park, salsa dancing, taking lessons from the pros sitting next to us, attending church dances (yes, they are just as awful, if not worse, than they were when I was 14), and meeting cute musicians at a local lounge called the Living Room. Check out the Koren Ensemble on Facebook (I'm in LOVE with them).

Well it's time for me to make room for the arrival of a new roommate. Next week will bring the debut of a new, New Yorker. Moving to New York can be a scary thing, and is a major life change. But they say, if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere. So here's to sticking out the tough times, making it work, and enjoying the ride. So, who is this newcomer, you ask. That's one secret I'll never tell, at least not yet ;)

Gossip Girl, here. Hello, Hello, from the outskirts of reality. Last weekend I had the opportunity to go camping with some new friends along the Hudson River. It's so good to get out of the city for a bit, and get in touch with the nature girl buried deep inside of me. Sharing stories, laughs, spirits, tents, and personal space is a nice break from the stresses of day to day life. But all good things must come to an end, and it's back to the daily grind. This is the harsh reality of life. And anyone who forgets that is in for a rude awakening. So here's to the next week of creative problem solving, putting out fires, and kicking ass.

A Typical Week

C here, another typical week come and gone. I'm settling into the daily grind, and starting to feel relaxed and comfortable living as a New Yorker.

This week has been busy as usual in the design community. Drake-sters started the week off making an appearance at the annual Alpha Awards. Every year, Alpha Workshops hosts an awards event honoring a few exceptional people in the design community. Alpha Workshops is a company that creates hand painted wall-coverings and finishes. Most everyone that works for Alpha has AIDS. They are given the opportunity to carry on with their lives, receive education, and create successful careers despite their illness. Jamie is the President of the board and hosted the awards night this year. This is such a fun event, the whole office comes to show their support, socialize, eat, drink, and make new friends.

Later in the week, I was off to the opening night of the "Decor on the Shore" Showhouse. This is a showhouse out in Deal, NJ. Deal is a community that is comparable to the Hampton's. A very specific group of Sephardic Jews that live in Brooklyn all summer together at their mansions in Deal. 14 different designers were in charge of designing different rooms in this mansion. Drake design, more specifically Darrin and I, took on this project to design the Dining Room.
I was very excited this week to have a visitor, my old boss from Adib's Rug Gallery, Dr. Hamid Adib. He was out here for some conferences and we were able to meet up for dinner. It was so good to see him! Hamid is so much fun to talk to, we spent a good portion of the night talking about religion, and its so great to talk with someone that is so open minded and respectful of others beliefs and thoughts.

Well, the weekend is here, and it is time for some much needed R & R. Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend.
